"Talking At The Diner" Podcast Ep. 63 ft. Tubey Frank

My guest on Ep. 63 of "Talking At The Diner" is Philly musician Josh Kirwin, known to the Area community as the mastermind behind Tubey Frank, a moniker which serves as a band name and a stage name. Josh grew up near Lancaster, PA - a place he semi-affectionately refers to as "the red sea," in reference to the area's general political leanings. He has made Philadelphia his home for several years now, having deeply embedded himself in South Philly culture as what I like to call a "fomenter of fellowship." In simpler terms, he brings people together, both with his musical endeavors, and events that he curates through his event collective, Mouth House. "Welcome To Mouth House" is a regular artist showcase held on First Fridays at South Philly cafe Rebel and Wolf. Josh also books an annual summer concert series in Dickinson Square Park.

On the musical side, Josh is an accomplished songwriter, who moves seamlessly from a folkier acoustic sound to a more robust rock sound, as can be heard on his upcoming album "I Told You So" which was recorded with South Philly-bred guitar wiz Barney Cortez. Josh also plays drums and has performed behind the kit in Tubey Frank (when necessary) and in other artist's bands. Case in point: he recently pounded the skins for Sug Daniels when I joined her at Wilmington Porch Fest to debut our new collab "Are You With Me."

It was a great Sunday afternoon hang at this show's #1 most frequented restaurant - the Oregon Diner on Oregon Ave. in south Philly. I hope you enjoy our great conversation!
